Birthday Wishes for My Littlest Sister

Sometimes a Big Sissy Has to Talk about the Littlest Sissy

One of my favorite people in the whole world had a birthday yesterday:  my littlest sister Kjj.

Kjj turned nine years old yesterday and while 3,000 miles separates us physically, she is all over my thoughts.

Nine is a great age.  Of course, I think every age is a great age for its own special reasons but nine is super good.  It’s right before double digits.  I remember the year I was nine and the anticipation of going into those double digits!

Everyone is precious but Sisters are especially special.  There is a bond and heart connection that is significantly different than other relationships.  I cannot put into words why it is different or what makes it different.  I think you have to have a sister to know the enigma of these feelings.

Kjj was on my mind again this morning.  She told me in her matter-of-fact-tone that her birthday cake would be "chocolate chocolate."  Her tone said it all:  there is only ONE kind of cake good enough for birthdays.  (I feel the same way!)

How shall I describe Kjj?

Bright, beautiful, creative, fun, animated, big colors, high-energy, hardworking (Kjj loves to work and get jobs DONE), fun loving, loves swinging on the sings at the park, baking chocolate chip cookies, reading, curly haired, ballerina, cat-loving, deep thinking, inspirational Kjj.

Kaitlyn plays hard and words hard.  She loves life and life loves her back.

If Kjj had her way, she would paint her room half Christmas red and half bright pink.  That's my little sissy.  More is more.

Kjj, I can’t be with you on your birthday week but I am thinking about you all week long!  May this year bring you new adventures and lots of excitement, times to bake favorite cookies and new recipes to experiment with, many new friends and lots of laughter, pink and red outfits, new books to read and old books to reread.  May the Lord God bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you this week.    May you feel Him smiling on you!!!!  May you know how beautiful and special you are.
