Lessons Learned from a Blizzard

shovel for snowLesson number 1:  A shovel is a very  handy tool to have.

This is probably common knowledge to anyone who lives in the snow.  However, as a mostly-California-girl-recently-transported-to-Boston, I had yet to learn this.

However, after Nemo the Blizzard, I consider myself a learned individual.  I will be sending an email to Bob, my landlord, thanking him for leaving the shovel in the entry way.  I was so happy to get outside for a little bit, shovel snow and see the winter wonderland.

I had to take a few breaks because my fingers would free and my arms were aching.

"Don't be a wimp!"  I said to myself.  "Can't you shovel for 20 minutes without taking a break?"

Apparently not.

Of course, I could get all philosphical about how shoveling snow is a great analogy for dealing with life's problems.  Just as one scoop of snow shoveled gets the job in due time, so tackling problems and trials one at a time.   No matter how high the problems go, we dig ourselves out one shovel, one piece of effort at a time.

Of course it helps if you have a bigger shovel.

Or stronger arms.

These are the kinds of things I think about as I shovel snow. That, and, how which recipe I will use to make cinnamon rolls on Day 2 of Snowed In Fun (tomorrow).

There's nothing philosphical about cinnamon rolls. They are just absolutely yummy.

Lesson Number 2:  not letting the pink watercolor dry before applying green causes problems problems.  (I had to get in my "pinkify moment' somewhere!)

Hope you have a lovely weekend wherever you are: in a place full of snow or dry and warm!  Happy Weekend!
