If you woke up tomorrow and were free to do anything you wanted with your life, what would you do and who would you be?
This is the question Natalie at The Suitcase Entrepreneur asked the readers and bloggers on Day 2 of the 31 Blog Day Challenge.
I'll admit the question threw me just a bit. It's been a while since I dreamed (and talked about it outloud).
But here goes....if I woke up tomorrow and there were no constraints on what I could do or where I could go; if I had the independent location business up and running, what would I do?
I've always wanted to travel and explore, so I guess I would start there. Europe would be the first place I visit- a wonderful slow travel, living in some of the quieter, out-of-the-way towns. The travel m.o. would be just like my Grandpa- a working artist for more than 50 years. When he traveled he never made reservations. He just went, explored, found a place to stay and then kept on going.
My dreams have often centered around writing, creating and teaching. I love the idea of facilitating creative workshops and conferences, not just locally but "touring" them internationally.
As I am currently writing cookbooks and books to help food bloggers grow their blogs and businesses, I would love to blog and write about baking around the world, travel around Europe and learn from artisan bakers, then record what I learn in books and art. I would love to write fiction books that encourage, inspire and motivate women to overcome personal struggles and do work and live lives that make a difference in their spheres of influence.
In the words of Snoopy, "It's not where you go but who you go with that counts," taking along a few friends and family members would really be a blast. What a fun memory maker!
How about you? What would you do if you could do anything tomorrow?
It's a bit of mind bender to even think of doing this- I haven't even figured out how I would fund this adventure! But we were born with dreams inside of us. It's fun to explore them, even if one is a bit sleep deprived right now!
Day 3 Question & Answer:
What's my definition of freedom in business and adventure in life?
For me, freedom may sound simple. Freedom in business is having work that pays the bills, pays off the debts, enables me to give and live without a day job.
I've written about it before and it will be a subject near and dear to my heart forever: it is hard to segment life into multiple different compartments without stress and strain and tearing. It's hard to put in full time effort in a day job, the working-on-the-dream job, family and the rest of life.
As a wise woman said, "You can live on the edge (that place where it seems as if anything shifts, EVERYTHING will topple), but make no mistake- life on the edge has a limited time span.
So freedom in business and in life would be the ability to focus on where my heart and strengths are at.
To move away from the proverbial edge and create some margin.
To focus on doing a few things well and helping the right people.
As we excel in the areas of our giftedness, we'll be able to encourage, inspire, help and mobilize more people.
That is motivation for me to continue to pursue freedom in business and an adventure-filled life.
What do you think? What is your definition of freedom?
